B612 Super-Elliptical Table

The Table Series, designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen in 1968, includes the stylish Super-Elliptical, Super-Circular, circular, square and rectangular tables. The Super-Elliptical table is a simplistically stylish item that radiates elegance whilst also being extremely useful. Piet Hein based the design of the table on a Super-Elliptical roundabout which he devised as the solution for traffic at Sergels Torg in Stockholm. The shape appears elegant regardless of size and radiates this is any room. The oval shape of the table also offers diversity regarding where it can be placed, as it is suitable for both leisure and business. Due to the rounded nature the table has no end, meaning it can be used as a democratic device in the professional business environment. There is a choice of base available with the tables depending on the shape, all of which Mathsson and Jacobsen helped to design. There is also the choice of three finishes available for the majority of tables in the collection, which are laminate, veneer or linoleum. The different bases available are: chromed steel span legs; satin polished aluminium four or six star base with a satin chromed steel pedestal, or a satin polished aluminium shaker base.
