Welcome to our new web site...We hope you like it! It is now 5 years since we opened our doors to customers and we are still enjoying ourselves in the world of gorgeous original designer furniture...hope you are too!

For your convenience, it is now possible to order from Couch Potato Company online. You can pay by credit or debit card, or you can pay via Google checkout. Setting up a Google checkout account is easy and allows you to shop easily online with any other retailers with the Google checkout facility. However, if you prefer to call us and place an order over the telephone please do so and we will be happy to help with any questions you may have.  Or why not come and see us in our Twickenham store?

If you are interested in buying more than 6 chairs or if you are putting a large order together, please contact us for a quotation as we may be able to offer you a discount. If you are a trade buyer, an architect or a designer please contact us for a quotation - we will be happy to help with your project. Authorised Originals.
We only sell genuine "Authorised Original" furniture. We work with the manufacturers who own the license to produce many of the iconic pieces of the 20th Century, including those designed by the likes of Charles & Ray Eames, Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen and Arne Jacobsen. Anything other than an Authorised Original is a copy. Due to the popularity of many of these designs, they are all copied in some way. We firmly believe in protecting the rights of the original designers who put so much work into creating their ground-breaking designs. Unfortunately, UK copywright law is often not robust enough to stop the manufacturers of copies from misleading the public. Take Eames as an example. Only retailers such as ourselves and a handful of others are legally allowed to use the phrase "Eames Lounge chair"  or "Eames Aluminium Chair" in adverts and promotional material. However, you will find many companies exploiting this in the press and online. The companies producing copies should stress "Eames inspired" or "Reproduction of Eames" but they often neglect to add these words, causing confusion for customers. You can often tell a copy from an original purely from the price, as many of the cheap copies are imported from China. However, some copies are better than others, and the manufacturers use phrases such as  "genuinely made in Italy" to suggest the pieces are genuine. In the case of genuine Eames furniture, it is in fact made in Germany! Due to our industry knowledge we are able to help you distinguish a "fake" or "copy" from an original. We have many clients who have bought a copy (often by mistake) then have approached us to buy an original. International Deliveries
More than ever we are shipping our furniture overseas. We have good relationships with International couriers, who are fully insured for loss or damage. For countries in the Asia Pacific region it can be extremely competitive if you are purchasing a number of items (usually at least £5,000), which will be individually boxed and put into a large crate.  Our customers tell us they save around 25% buying from us, even after factoring in the shipping costs. We can liaise with the shipping company for you, giving them all the information required for a competitive quotation. Some of the recent places we have sent furniture: South Australia; M.A, USA, Copenhagen, Catalonia, Paris and Marseilles, Munich, and Amsterdam.


Aiming for referrals.
We appreciate the power of recommendations and we want our clients to be happy with us and our service.  Many of our clients have been referred by other happy customers. If you are not happy, please let us know immediately. We take a proactive approach to customer service. We will discuss a suitable day for your delivery and will provide a two-hour time slot wherever possible. We will also install the furniture in your preferred room (access allowing) and remove and dispose of all packaging*.
