Terms and Conditions

Pricing. Prices are per item, including VAT, but excluding delivery. VAT will be charged at the rate applicable at the time of invoice. All prices listed take effect from 1 January 2013.

Ownership. All goods remain the property of Couch Potato Company until the balance of all goods has been received.

Access. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that delivery can be made. Please measure all relevant access points before ordering. In the event of an unsuccessful delivery, (e.g. a doorway is too narrow) the goods cannot be returned to Couch Potato Company or credited without prior agreement. Where returns are agreed, the value of the goods will be credited less a 20% handling charge.

Extra charges will be payable for difficult deliveries where more than two people are required. See separate section on Delivery.

Claims.
In the unlikely event that a product arrives damged, or an order is incomplete this must be reported to Couch Potato Company within 3 days of receipt of goods, by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You may be required to provide photographic evidence of any damage by e-mail in order to expedite a return or replacement.

Payment. Customers ordering furniture are required to pay a 50% deposit at date of order, if ordering over telephone or in person. The full balance will be required prior to dispatch. Customers ordering online via our web site are required to pay in full at date of order. Customers ordering goods from stock will be required to pay the balance in full at the time of order, which ever order method is used. We accept all major credit and debit cards. We also accept American Express but it carries a 3% processing fee.

Description. Each product purchased is sold subject to its Product Description. We will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices of products appearing on the Website are correct at the time when the relevant information was entered onto the system. Although we aim to keep the Website as up to date as possible, the information, including Product Descriptions, appearing on this Website at a particular time may not always reflect the position at the exact moment you place an order.

Refusal of transaction. We reserve the right to withdraw any products from this Website at any time and/or remove or edit any materials or content on this Website. We may refuse to process a transaction for any reason or refuse service to anyone at any time at our sole discretion. We will not be liable to you or any third party by reason of our withdrawing any product from this Website whether or not that product has been sold, removing or editing any materials or content on the Website, refusing to process a transaction or unwinding or suspending any transaction after processing has begun.


Storage. Goods can be stored free of charge for up to one week after the agreed delivery date. If the buyer is unable to take delivery after one week has passed, a charge of £50.00 per week per week will be added to the final invoice, this will be increased for large orders. Responsibility for insurance passes to the buyer upon acceptance of the delivery.

Cancellations. Should the customer cancel any goods prior to despatch, they are required to notify Couch Potato Company in writing. The deposit will be non-refundable. Any customers ordering items which are made-to-order or bespoke will be required to pay in full with the order and these goods are non-refundable. The customer enters into a "contract" with Couch Potato Company, and if they cancel their order, the deposit is non-returnable. In accordance with the Sale of Goods Acts (1979) Couch Potato Company will only give a refund or exchange if the item is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described.

Returns. Couch Potato Company will abide by the Sale of Goods and Distance selling Acts. Where returns are agreed, Couch Potato Company will refund the customer's card once the goods have been returned to our warehouse. The goods must be in the original packaging. Any delivery or collection costs will be deducted from the balance being refunded, unless the goods are faulty in which case the delivery and collection costs will be refunded.

Offer codes. Only offer codes in the public domain will be accepted. Where there are two codes in operation e.g 15% for furniture and 10% for lighting, please put two orders through or call us and we will take the order over the phone.

Guarantees.
All sofas, sofa beds and dining furniture have a construction guarantee of at least 1 year. Some other items have a five-year construction guarantee. The Eames Aluminium and Soft Pad Group of chairs come with a 30 year guarantee. Couch Potato Company reserve the right to inspect any goods prior to any claims on these guarantees, or any refunds or exchanges.

Couch Potato Company retains the right to alter specifications of furniture along with our commitment to quality and continuous improvement, without prior notice.

Jurisdiction. Couch Potato Company operates within UK law.

Shipping. Delivery charges are as follows for UK mainland deliveries:

Our standard delivery service for items requiring one man allows you to choose the day of delivery (Monday - Friday; 8am - 6pm) with our courier. You can upgrade to guaranteed by 12 noon or guaranteed by 10am for an extra charge. Once your furniture is ready to be delivered, we will contact you to arrange a suitable day (Monday to Friday). Please note that the price for a two-men delivery assumes the delivery address is within London / M25. Please request a quote if your address is further afield.

Delivery charges are as follows for UK mainland* deliveries requiring one man by courier:

  • Small items: £4.95 to £8.95 (depending on size) for items such as clocks & accessories (by signed-for post or courier)
  • One-man deliveries: £25 for chairs and side tables (for up to 4 chairs); £55 for up to 6 chairs
  • Add £10 for guaranteed by 12 noon; add £20 for guaranteed by 10am (for courier deliveries only)

Two-men deliveries:

  • Two-men deliveries: **£75 for dining tables, sofas, some coffee tables (e.g Noguchi) for delivery and installation to a ground floor room.
  • Marble dining tables: £150
  • An extra £75 (on top of the standard delivery charge) will be charged for deliveries above the ground floor BY ARRANGEMENT. Access needs to be discussed.

Collection. You can collect your goods from the following locations by arrangement, free of charge. We will contact you to confirm when the goods will be ready for collection. Payment must be received in full before collection.

  1. Shop in Twickenham, Middlesex (smaller items, chairs. Excludes items requiring 2 men)
  2. Warehouse North London (N8)

Failed delivery. If we attempt to make a delivery on the date / time slot that you have accepted and nobody is present to receive the delivery, there will be a £75 redelivery charge, regardless of the original delivery charge. This is due prior to the redelivery.

*Our courier charges an additional £45 and £55 for Northern Ireland and Highlands/channel/offshore islands respectively. Unfortunately we have no choice but to pass on these additional costs. If you have your own courier account and wish to arrange collection from us, please let us know.

** Difficult deliveries. We sell some large and heavy products that on health and safety grounds require more than a two man delivery - we will call you to advise you of any extra cost involved in delivering before your order is processed. We can only deliver heavy objects to a room above ground floor by prior arrangement. Please be aware that we are unable to install dining tables above the ground floor unless prior arrangements have been made with us. The standard two-men delivery charge of £75 covers delivery to a ground floor room only. If your dining room is above the ground floor up to four men are usually required and the total delivery & installation charge will be a minimum of £150. The use of a lift may be helpful but dimensions of the lift will be required and a site survey may be necessary at an additional. Please call or email for more details.

We are also able to ship furniture overseas. If you live outside the UK, please call or email to request a quotation for delivery. For larger items, our courier service is only able to deliver to a business address.

Leadtimes.
We carry stock of some of the most popular items and we have access to the Quick Ship programmes of our suppliers. This means that some products are available within weeks; sometimes only a few days. The average leadtime for other products is 6-7 weeks. Please ask for an estimated leadtime before you order if timing is an issue for you.
