The Swan chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, and was produced for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The Swan was produced alongside the Egg chair and Drop chair for the hotel and they show similarities in their striking, curved design. There is a huge range of fabric and leather options and colours, we have given some suggestions here. Jacobsen's design focused on curves, creating an aesthetically elegant piece which acts as a striking statement piece in a room. Similarly to the Egg, the shell is covered by a layer of foam before it is upholstered, giving it a wonderfully soft and comfortable finish. The Swan has a star shaped base made of satin polished aluminium.
