This year Fritz Hansen is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Egg chair which was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958. This limited edition version of the Egg chair has a high-end look, with quality materials used, including a pure leather upholstery and a 23k gold plated aluminium base. The Egg is an aesthetically unique piece which exudes comfort and style. This special edition is only available until the end of 2018, and it also features a special 60th anniversary leather engraving, with numbering. In Addition to the Egg chair the Egg Foot Stool has also been produced in the Pure leather and the 23k gold plated base. Please see below for the option to add the Egg Foot Stool.
The Egg was originally designed for the lobby and reception of the SAS Royal Hotel, however the chair is versatile and is equally suitable in an informal setting. One advantage of this unique shape is the high and curved back of the chair which allows the user a sense of privacy. The exceptional comfort of the Egg chair is enhanced by the curved shell which cocoons the body. It is ideal for relaxing and lounging in, especially when paired with the ottoman. Jacobsen used his talent of sculpting when designing the Egg chair and used clay as a mould, until he found the perfect shape for the shell, showing his creative attitude of perfectionism. The Egg is formed of a foam inner shell which Jacobsen was the first to use. This layer is situated underneath the upholstery. The base is comprised of 23k gold aluminium plated base and is a stylish contrast to the upholstery.
We only sell the Authorised Original Egg chair. Please visit the Real vs fake section for videos and further information.
