Fritz Hansen Egg Foot Stool 3127
-
The Egg chair and foot stool was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 after he was commissioned to design the hotel building and furniture of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, combining his talent of design and architecture. The Egg foot stool is an aesthetically unique piece which exudes comfort and stylishness either stood alone or accompanied by the matching chair.
Read moreThe Egg was originally designed for the lobby and reception of the Royal Hotel, however the chair is versatile and is equally suitable in an informal setting. One advantage of this unique shape is the high and curved back of the chair which allows the user a sense of privacy. The exceptional comfort of the Egg chair is enhanced by the curved shape which encompasses the body, ensuring it is also ideal for relaxing and lounging. Jacobsen used his talent of sculpting when designing the Egg chair and used clay as a mould, until he found the perfect shape for the shell, showing his creative attitude of perfectionism. The Egg is formed of a foam inner shell which Jacobsen was the first to use. This layer is situated underneath the upholstery, of which there is a variety of fabric and leather. The base is comprised of satin polished aluminium and is a stylish contrast to the upholstery.
