The iconic Drop Chair was designed by the Danish designer and architect Arne Jacobsen in 1958. It was originally made for the five-star SAS Royal hotel in Copenhagen, and the first edition included only 150 pieces. After more than 50 years in hibernation, Fritz Hansen relaunched the chair in 2014, after new production methods enabled its production for the general market.
The Drop is a small chair with a big personality. The drop-shaped design of the back allows for a freedom of movement while still giving enough support, thus providing a surprising level of comfort. It's narrow whilst still being comfortable, meaning this chair is perfect for dining tables that need to accommodate lots of people.
An excellent example of Danish mid-century design, the Drop fits perfectly into a wide variety of settings, including home and public spaces. Available with a chromed or powder-coated base in colours matching the shell. Available with an optional seat cushion in a choice of six colours in Kvadrat Divina, Divina MD and Divina Melange fabric. Also available in a fully upholstered version in fabric or leather.
