The iconic Drop Chair is designed by the Danish designer and architect Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the five-star SAS Royal hotel in Copenhagen. The first edition included only 150 pieces, and only 1 of them is left in the hotel today. After more than 50 years in hibernation, Fritz Hansen relaunched the chair in 2014, after new production methods enabled its production for the general market. It is available fully upholstered or unupholstered with an optional seat cushion.
The Drop is a small chair with a big personality. The drop-shaped design of the back allows for a freedom of movement while still giving enough support, thus providing a surprising level of comfort. It's narrow whilst still being comfortable, meaning this chair is perfect for dining tables that need to accommodate lots of people.
An excellent example of Danish mid-century design, the Drop fits perfectly into a wide variety of settings, including home and public spaces. The fully upholstered version is only available with a chromed base, while with the unupholstered one you have a choice between chromed or powder-coated base in colours matching the shell.
Drop chairs in Black and White are available through Quickship.
