Charles and Ray Eames designed the interior of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a wooden bird is evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art, as it stood in the centre of their living room for over fifty years. The bird figure originates from the Appalachian mountain region of the eastern United States, and can be seen as an accessory in many of the Eames' photographs.
Based on the original artefact and in cooperation with the Eames Family, Vitra is now producing the mahogany series of this figure. It is part of the Vitra WInter Home Stories 2018 / 2019 Collection. Please ask for an estimated lead time before you order if timing is an issue for you. -
