Hella Jongerius, 2005/2015
The Polder Compact Sofa is a 10th anniversary celebration updated version of the Polder XS, designed by Hella Jongerius in 2005. This new version has a slightly revised shape, richer fabric colours, and most importantly, increased comfort. Polder retains its playful armrest heights, customisable to be higher either on the left or right of the sofa. The Polder Compact is available with a matching ottoman.
The Dutch word "Polder" refers to reclaimed land from the sea, by means of canals and dikes. The sofa references this term in its low lying, undulating landscape and silhouette.
Materials: wooden frame; backrest cushions: polyurethane foam with polyester fleece and chamber cushions; seat cushions: polyurethane foam with interactive pocket spring core, chamber cushions and polyester fleece.
