1910 - 1961
Eero Saarinen joined the Knoll design team in the 1940s. He became known for taking a sculptural approach to furniture design, building hundreds of models and full-scale mock-ups to achieve the perfect curve, find the right line, and derive the most pleasing proportions. His designs, which employed modern materials in graceful, organic shapes, helped establish the reputation and identity of Knoll during its formative years.
Eero Saarinen designed the Tulip table, which is arguably one of the most famous dining tables in the world. It is also, unfortunately, now one of the most copied table designs. We have been sourcing genuine Saarinen Tulip tables since we started trading in 2003 from Knoll who has the license to produce tables and other furniture designed by Eero Saarinen. Each genuine Saarinen Tulip table includes Saarinen's signature as well as the Knoll stamp. If it's not made by Knoll it's a copy.
